同じ市⺠として
市⺠と為政者たちという観点で⾒る⼒を取り戻して欲しい
⼤切な家を壊さないで欲しい、愛する⼈と引き離さないで欲しい
マーケットで普通に買い物をし、穏やかに⾷事をしたい
その単純にして崇⾼な市⺠の希望を思い出して欲しい
その為の⾮商業映画を作ります。
“Fight, kill, and die for your country.”
How foolish can this be.
We, Japanese, especially should understand this.
It is not about Russia or Ukraine, East or West, or North or South.
We must regain the power to view things from the perspective of citizens
and leaders. We must protect our precious homes, and keep our loved
ones close.
We must be able to shop in the market and enjoy a peaceful meal.
We must remember the simple yet noble hope of being just, citizens.
This is the reason for the creation of this film.

ロケ地決定の経緯 How the filming locations were selected
2024年夏、ドラマ「相棒シーズン22」1話、2話が林牧場・本社で撮影されました(ぐんまフィルムコミッション支援作品)。相棒の会田撮影監督はCITIZENsの撮影監督でもあり、ロケ地を探していたふるいち監督に、「ぴったりのロケ地がある」と林牧場・本社を紹介。イメージ通りのロケーションであったことと、撮りたいシーンが一つの施設ですべて撮れるということが決め手となり、ロケが実現しました。なお、林牧場・本社でのロケが作品全体の99%を占めるとのことです。
In the summer of 2024, episodes 1 and 2 of the TV drama “AIBOU Season 22” were filmed at HAYASHI FARM (a Gunma Film Commission supported production). AIBOU’s cinematographer Aida is also the cinematographer for CITIZENs, and introduced HAYASHI FARM to director Furuichi, who was looking for a location, saying, “We have the perfect location.” The location was exactly what they had in mind, and the fact that all the scenes they wanted to shoot could be shot in one facility was the deciding factor, leading to the location being realized. It is said that 99% of the film was shot on location at HAYASHI FARM.

東京に住んでいた約30年間、都内では殆ど映画を撮っていない。日本の美しさを求めてロケーションを探すとどうしても郊外へ足を延ばしてしまう。私の代表作となった「千年の糸姫」( https://watch.amazon.co.jp/detail?gti=amzn1.dv.gti.c2b35189-fa7e-6825-ae2f-772bf9f5761e&territory=JP&ref_=share_ios_movie&r=web
)も物語にピッタリの美しさを求め、奇跡的に辿り着いた場所が群馬県下仁田町だった。とは言え、今回の作品「CITIZENs」は平和のメッセージを世界中の人に伝える為に特定の国に見えないようなロケーションで多人種で撮ると決めていた。まさかそれが群馬県で見つかるとは、つくづく縁があるもんだと驚いている。そして決して潤沢とは言えない予算と万全とはほど遠い体制のまま撮影に突入したのだが、フィルムコミッションと地域の方々の(見るに見かねて)献身的なご協力を戴き、そういう人の温かさや文化活動への理解も決して東京では得られないものだった。3日間という強行スケジュールにも関わらず、現場はある種の穏やかさと落ち着きに溢れ、出演者からもスタッフからも本当に心に残る良い撮影だったとの声が寄せられた。それがとても嬉しかった。その空気感は作品にそのまま表れていると自負している。

In the 30 years that I have lived in Tokyo, I have rarely made films in the city. When I look for locations in search of the beauty of Japan, I inevitably end up going to the suburbs. ), I also searched for the perfect beauty for the story, and miraculously arrived at Shimonita-cho, Gunma Prefecture. However, I had decided to shoot the film “CITIZENs” in a location that did not look like a specific country and with a multi-racial cast in order to convey the message of peace to people all over the world. I was surprised to find it in Gunma Prefecture. The warmth of the people and their understanding of cultural activities was something that could never be found in Tokyo. Despite the three-day schedule, there was a certain calmness and serenity on the set, and both the performers and staff commented that it was a truly memorable and enjoyable shoot. I was very happy to hear that. I am proud to say that this atmosphere is directly reflected in the film.
